International students

We can’t wait to see you in January! If you're a new international student, don’t forget to complete registration.

You'll need to first complete online registration, upload a share code to prove your immigration status (if you’re on a course that lasts over six months) and then book your registration appointment on campus. You will need to have already set up your eVisa before arriving on campus. When you arrive, you must and be able to provide a share code to prove your right to study, so that our team can make sure your registration can be completed.

During your registration appointment, you will also pick up your student ID card. You will need this to access buildings, classrooms and log your attendance.

Step-by-step guide to completing online registration

Step 1 �� create your University account
Set up your University account. You will receive an email asking you to set up your University account so you can complete registration. Please set up your account as soon as you can.
Your gives you access to all our systems and resources including StudyNet and Canvas which you need for your course. Keep an eye on your inbox as you'll receive an email asking you to set up your account.
Step 2 �� start registration
Before your course starts, you will receive another email asking you to complete registration. To start registration, click 'Online Registration' under the services heading in your student record.
Step 3 �� check your course information
Check your course details – including your course title. If you have studied with us before, please select the course that you are currently completing your enrolment for.
If anything looks wrong, , but don't worry about the course start and end dates, as they may not be exactly same as what was stated on your CAS letter.
Step 4 �� add in your address details
Next you need to confirm your address. You’ll need to keep this up to date during your time with us. Please make sure you complete your full address details as it is essential for your safety and will make sure that any important documents such as your qualification certificates, will send to the right address.
If you're not sure what information to add to the fields, please use the guidance below:
Home address – this is where you normally live outside of term-time, so it will be your home country address. Please note, the postcode lookup will only work for UK addresses.
Term address - this is your UK address where you will be living while you are studying with us. Make sure to provide an exact address - if you are living in University accommodation your full address will be included in our emails or you can find it in our student guides for living campus at de Havilland (PDF - 3.76 Mb) or our College Lane (PDF - 3.61 Mb) campus.
Mailing address - this is the address we will use when we send you any important letters. This won't happen often, but it's important that we have a correct address. If you put down your Term Address here, you'll have to remember to change it in your University account if you move.
Work address - we only need this completed if you are studying a course directly linked to an employer, such as a degree apprenticeship.
Step 5 �� add details of your emergency contact
If there is an emergency, we will need the details for someone you would like to contact in case of emergency. It is preferable to add someone who is additionally located in the UK (e.g. a friend) who is happy to be contacted immediately in case of emergency, to assist you whilst you are attending University.
Step 6 �� questions about Herts students
UK universities must provide regular statistics about our students to the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), so they can get an idea of who attends the 91였튬. This section will go through questions such as ethnicity, your highest qualifications, any disabilities you wish to disclose, how you’ll be funding your studies and your religion or beliefs.
These questions are mandatory and there is an explanation available by clicking on each of the questions. If you wish, you can select ‘information refused’ for questions you would not like to answer.
Step 7 �� tell us about your career aspirations
By telling us about your career aspirations, you will then receive personalised support with your career plans from our Careers and Employment team.
Step 8 - additional questions
To access personalised support, you will be asked if you are a care leaver (have spent time being looked after by children's services, e.g. not by your family or friends), estranged, a parent or a carer.
Step 9 �� review your information and check the terms and conditions
Here you’ll see a summary of the information you’ve entered. Make sure to check and ensure it is all correct. You will also see a link to the University’s terms and conditions that you should read through before submitting the form.
Once you have submitted your details and completed online registration, you will be confirming your plans to study at Herts.

What next?

Once you've completed online registration and submitted a share code, your next step is to book your registration appointment on campus. This step will only become accessible after completing both steps.

Please book this appointment before your first class as you will not receive your ID card until you are fully registered, and this may cause difficulty with your student experience. If you are enrolled on an early starting course, please head to your to view additional information regarding your induction at your first weeks at the University.
